How to generate CSR in cPanel

1. Login to your cPanel

2. Scroll down to the Security section.

3. Click on SSL/TLS.

4. Under Certificate Signing Requests (CSR), click “Generate, view, or delete SSL certificate signing requests.”

5. Fill out the CSR form:
- Domains: Enter the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) (e.g., example.com or www.example.com).
- City: Your city name.
- State: Your state/province name.
- Country: Select your country from the dropdown.
- Company: Legal name of your organization.
- Company Division: e.g., "IT" or "Web".
- Email: A valid contact email.
- Passphrase: (Optional) – Can be left blank unless required by the Certificate Authority (CA).
- Key Size: Choose 2048 (recommended) or 4096.

6. Click Generate.


Notes: What you get after generation, cPanel will display:
- The CSR > Copy this to submit to your SSL provider.
- The Private Key > Stored automatically in cPanel, but you can view/download it if needed.
Important: Keep your private key secure and never share it. It’s required later when installing the SSL certificate.
